Golden medal for the Villa Yambol Chardonnay from Chardonnay du Monde 2012

Villa Yambol Chardonnay 2011 by Vinprom Yambol was awarded the golden medal from the 19^th edition of the most prestigious international wine contest from the Chardonnay variety –  Chardonnay du Monde 2012, that took place at Chateau des Ravatys (Burgundy) from March 7 to March 10. 

During Chardonnay du Monde 2012 were presented 908 wines from 43 countries. Evaluation was conducted under strict observation of the international regulations and procedures for warranting quality. 50% of the evaluators were from countries with traditions in wine production outside of France. Tastings lasted for four days and 303 wines were awarded with medals, or 1/3 of all 908 wines. The distribution of the medals was as follows: 67 – golden, 191 – silver and 45 – bronze. At the Chardonnay du Monde 2012 contest, Bulgaria won 2% of all medals.

The ambition of this international contest was to select the best Chardonnay varieties based only on Chardonnay's specific quailities. Also Chardonnay du Monde is committed to create an organization of Chardonnay producers on a network basis, which will support the spreading of information about the variety and to also train tasters to assess wines.
