Thousands of ancient history lovers welcome the sunrise with the support of Kabile

The wine inspired by this ancient city keeps bringing more and more gold medals from international competitions

Yet again thousands of enthusiasts will meet the rising sun on the longest day of the year. They will enjoy the unique view from the Thracian temple overlooking the ancient city of Kabile near Yambol. The event is traditionally organized by the Yambol Municipality and the regional Archaeological Museum with the support of the oldest wine cellar in Southern Bulgaria - Villa Yambol and its Kabile series of wines.

Thus, fans of ancient rituals and archaeology will have the opportunity to see the first rays of the sun passing through the man-made opening in the rocks as through a scope while the morning light spills over the image of the Goddess Kybele.

The history of the Thracian people, their reverence of wine and their tradition to celebrate with a glass of the godly drink in hand are deeply ingrained in the area of Kabile. The ancient architectural and cultural heritage site is included in Bulgaria's list of 100 nationally important places of interest.

It was its name that the wine producers of Villa Yambol chose for their series of wines as a homage to the traditions of the region, famous for its excellent conditions for growing grapes that make some of the best drinks. The Kabile series of wines feature the image of the Goddess Mother Kybele, protector of the land and the vineyards who gives wine its strength. This brand is one of the most acclaimed Bulgarian brands and a winner of countless prizes at international competitions.  Since the start of this year alone Villa Yambol has already nabbed seven prizes at one of the world's most famous wine competitions, Vinalies Internationales.  

Since antiquity, the summer solstice was celebrated as the feast of the sun and fire. That is why, in many places on the first day of summer people lit bonfires and jumped over the flames for health and protection from evil powers.
