Villa Yambol Celebrates 100 Years Of Wine Tradition

5 000 People Celebrated The Centenary

Villa Yambol celebrated its 100th anniversary with a grand celebration of wine and the rich heritage of Yambol region. The event was attended by nearly 5,000 people and turned into a real festival of Bulgarian traditions with the participation of folk singer Slavka Kalcheva, culinary expert Uti Bachvarov, folklore ensemble "Tundzha" and an attractive performance of Kukeri. The event was hosted by the popular TV presenter Niki Kanchev. The official start was given by the executive director of the winery Krasimir Avramov and the mayor of Yambol - Valentin Revanski.

"Great wines are born in the vineyard. That is why it has always been very important for us to ensure production with vineyards. Today we manage nearly 10,000 decares and work with more than 15 wine varieties. The hard and professional work on the vineyards, as well as the expertise in how to apply the technology, enable us to offer to the Bulgarian table, regardless of the challenges of the harvest, high quality wines - series in which there is not a single weak wine, where the taste is the leading factor. And we are grateful that you like our wines and today our brand Villa Yambol is the best-selling wine in Bulgaria!" said the CEO of the winery.

The event was accompanied by a special retrospective photoexhibition dedicated to the "100 Years of Villa Yambol", in which the impressive history of the producer was told with archive footage. "I would like to thank Villa Yambol for organising this celebration, which not only honours the wine, but also the work of all the winegrowers and winemakers who, with their skills and dedication, are a real asset to our region. Yambol is a town with rich traditions in wine production, and the quality wine created here is a symbol of craftsmanship and love for the land," said the town's mayor Valentin Revanski. He received a special bottle of red wine from the limited series dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Villa Yambol.

The beginning of the winery was set back in 1924 with the foundation of the Misket Wine Cooperative, whose proud successor today is the winery Villa Yambol. Throughout its 100-year history, the winery has continuously developed and modernized - moving its production facilities to a modern winery at the entrance of the town, investing and implementing the most modern technologies and expanding its vineyards, but most importantly - preserving the traditions of its region. In the 1990s, the winery established itself as a leading exporter of high-quality wines to Scandinavian countries and Japan. Today, its eponymous Villa Yambol series is the undisputed market leader.

For the past five years Villa Yambol has been awarded with over 160 medals from the most prestigious international wine competitions, consolidating its position as a leading producer of quality Bulgarian wines. In 2023 it achieved a remarkable success - the Vineyards Selection terroir wine from the Tenevo micro-region, vintage 2017, won the title of "International Red Wine Revelation" at the prestigious Concours Mondial de Bruxelles. "The success of Vineyards Selection Tenevo is an indicator not only for our winery, but it has put Bulgaria on the wine map as a producer of exceptional wines," added Krasimir Avramov.
