Villa Yambol has won six medals at the prestigious Vinalies Internationales competition in France, organised by the Union of French Oenologists. The winery returned with two grand gold and four gold awards, confirming the high quality of Bulgarian wine on the world stage. The grand gold medals were awarded to the Vineyards Selection Tenevo terroir wine (a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, vintage 2019) and to the KABILE Reserve Syrah, vintage 2019.
No other winery from Bulgaria has won two grand gold medals at the same competition. Over the years, Villa Yambol has had one more, which ranks it first for such highly rated wines from the prestigious competition. Four other wines from the winery were awarded gold medals this year: KABILE Reserve Merlot 2019, KABILE Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2019, Vineyards Selection Rose 2024 and Vineyards Selection Topolitsa 2019.
The achievement is significant given the high criteria of the Vinalies Internationales jury, which is extremely demanding, especially when evaluating wines from well-known and established French varieties. One third of the experts are French. This year, professionals from 26 nationalities took part in the judging process. The submitted samples were 2 683 from 36 countries.
