Two new aged wines will complement the KABILE series this year
For the third consecutive year one of the oldest wineries in Southern Bulgaria “Villa Yambol” organizes a wine festival in its hometown. The date was not chosen by chance - the event took place only a few days after February the 14th, which is celebrated by wineries and winemakers as their feast Trifon Zarezan which traditionally marks the start of the new wine year. The winery wanted to share this special moment with the local community. Over 3000 liters of red wine and 4,000 servings made by Uti Bachvarov lifted the mood of the people of Yambol on Sunday, February 18th. The event also included kukeri, folk songs and traditional dances from the region, performed by the “Tundzha” ensemble.
“Villa Yambol” is one of the largest and most preferred Bulgarian wineries. The company is well-known on the market with the “Yambol” and “Straldzhanska” rakia and with the Villa Yambol and Kabile wines. For this year, the winery is preparing the release of two new reserves for the Kabile brand, the winery announced during the celebration. This series is very special for the manufacturer - it is named after an ancient Thracian town near Yambol, and the goddess Кybele is portrayed on the label. Mavrud and Cabernet Sauvignon by Kabile was one of the most awarded Bulgarian wines at international competitions last year. It won gold medal at Mondial de Bruxelles, Vinalies International as well as at London experts in wine.
“With this celebration we would like to thank both the people of Yambol and our region for helping us to make high quality Bulgarian wines. We are glad that we have preserved the traditions of wine production since 1924” Krassimir Avramov, Executive Director of Villa Yambol said in his welcome speech during the celebration. He also added – “I have often shared that the production of fine wine depends on two very important factors: good grapes and good people. This year we are thankful that nature was on our side and brought us an excellent harvest. As for the people, they are here too”.
More than 160 people from Yambol and the region are involved in the care of the vineyards and the making process of wine and rakia at the winery. It manages about 10 000 decares of vineyards around the area of Yambol and Aytos. It works with the most popular and favorite wine varieties in Bulgaria: Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat, Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Mavrud. In addition to international recognition, export performance is evidence of our wine's qualities. Villa Yambol has its products in over 20 countries from 4 continents.Back to News
