The winery adds a gold prize for Kabile Syrah Reserve 2016
Villa Yambol won seven medals, the most of any Bulgarian winemaker, at the 20th edition of the Decanter World Wine Awards. In total, Bulgarian wineries brought home 64 medals, including 5 golds.
Villa Yambol expanded its collection of gold medals with a distinction for its Kabile Syrah Reserve 2016, a silver medal for Kabile Syrah 2018 and five bronze prizes for Kabile Rosé 2022, Kabile Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc 2022, Kabile Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 2016, Kabile Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 and Vineyards Selection Troyanovo Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay 2022.
The prizes from the London competition are among the most coveted for any winery. The scoring system is very strict and all submissions undergo a three-stage tasting process. At the 20th edition of Decanter World Wine Awards, a record 18 250 samples from 57 countries were tasted. They were appraised by 236 wine experts including 53 Master of Wine and 16 Master Sommeliers from 30 nations.
‘This is a tremendous recognition for the work of our technologists and the quality of our wines, and shows that our efforts to create tasty and balanced products at, as I would say, a very competitive price, and to a high standard, have paid off. It is an honour for us that Bulgarian wines can hold their own against some of the best in the world,“ the executive director of Villa Yambol, Krasimir Avramov commented. The news of the numerous prizes won at Decanter comes just a week after Villa Yambol’s Vineyards Selection Tenevo topped the sample chart at another international competition, Concours Mondial de Bruxelles.
